Welcome to Satheeish's Wonderful World of Driving..

The guys came over to my place to watch the game on Sunday, but we almost missed the entire 90 minutes because Satheeish was trying to parallel park. Harry was almost rushed to the hospital from stomach pain from laughing. I know the video is dark but I think you can see enough. Satheeish is trying to parallel park by going in head first and then he reverses, then forward, then reverses, then left foot in, right foot in, do the hokey pokey and we shake it all about.. You can also recognize it's him by his eyes. I am not kidding. ENJOY!=)

Viva La Espana!

Anan, Harry, Sat and Chan gathered at Harvey's place to watch the Euro 2008 Final last night. It could possibly be the last time we watch a 245am game together because soon everyone will start work and get married. It was a fun affair in general with the usual PS3 Winning Eleven games and Chan finally got to meet "Chan" at Yassin. It was one of those moments where time stood still, like there was a glitch in the Matrix or something. "Chan" was his usual self and the pratas were up to standard, though Sat's mee kuah failed to live up to his expectations. We had the usual MiB talk at the supper-table and we all concluded who MiB's "Romeo" is.

The match itself was a tense and tigh affair and it was a good final if you ask me. Both teams tried to attack and score and the score could have been easily 3-2 if both teams had finished better. There were lots of outstanding displays from the eventual champions Spain; Torres for the goal obviously, but behind him Senna and Xavi were brilliant as they have been all tournament, and Spain's defence with Puyol, Marchena, Ramos and Capdevilla will all be hailed as heroes back home with Casillas the obvious darling. So unlike many tournaments before, for Euro 2008, I think it is fair to say that the best team won. I enjoyed the entire 3 weeks and I think it was a good attacking tournament.

One month of cold-turkey now before the EPL resumes again. Time for the crazy transfer rumours to start.

WAG of Euro 2008: Sylvie Van Der Waart... SMOKING hot. See for yourself: http://images.google.com/images?q=sylvie%20van%20der%20waart&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

On another note, Friday Soccer at NUS will be ON at 4pm. Harry is itchy to play. He will dance the salsa every time he scores so it's something not to miss! See you there..

Vanilla Oh Vanilla

The guys gathered over at Harvey's place on Thursday to watch the Euro Semi between Spain and Russia. Riz, Puvan, Prak and long-awaited comebacks of Harry and Anan graced the evening. It was the usual PS3 madness and the rizvi-bashing. This time there was a strange wrestling match between Riz and Prak on Kevin's bed as Harvey and Harry were playing PS3. Riz was hungry and wanted to eat while Prak wanted to play so he pinned Riz down. Riz to his credit didn't back down and put up a helluva fight but Prak won in the end. Innocent bysitter Puvan was injured in the collision but he quickly recovered.

We went to Yassin once again for our late night snack. I gotta hand it to them because I have slanged them off before. I really think they have improved. Dono it is cos it's late at night, or cos they recognize us but the service was good, food was more than decent and we didn't get overpriced, more than you can say about many other stalls like this in Singapore.

MiB was once again delighted to see "Chan" serving us at Yassin. "Chan" really was in top form tonight. Upon delivering our drinks to the table, he started humming to himself "Vanilla oh Vanilla.." when passing Riz his vanilla coke. When I later asked him if the tea I had ordered was "Teh Tarik Manis", he said no its "Manis Teh Tarik". I later ordered Prata Bom, which was a mix of Planta and sugar in the prata and asked "Chan" where the "Bom" was. He replied, "you eat this now, tomorrow morning got bom." We love you "Chan" and Chan. For this I need to put up his photo again.

We then came back to watch the game. Prak, Kevin and Anan spent most of the second half playing PS3.

Final on Sunday. Spain vs Germany. My place. Any takers? We might go visit "Chan" again.=)

Anan You Asked For It..

Unfortunately it was already dark so we couldnt take any more photos but if you look carefully you can see all that you need to see..

Welcome Home Anan

Since Anan the "dead-cat" is back, I have decided to upload a video to remind him what to expect when he is in Singapore. Turn up your volume and try to watch it in a dark room to enjoy the effects of this short movie. And listen up for who are the biggest perpetrators!!! ENJOY!=)

MiB Lookalikes!!! Part 3 (Edited)

To Really Look Like Derek Fisher, PP has come out with a new look. Hope you like it!

Updates..

  1. Harvey, Riz, Prak and Bert went to watch Get Smart on Monday at Cineleisure. We enjoyed ourselves at the show and Bert even managed to "ssshhh" some girls laughing too loudly in the cinema, only to realise they were Russian and smoking hot when the show ended and the lights came on. Riz tried to apologise on Bert's behalf but he said something about his place and plastic bags and they ran away. Thankfully enough, there was no police intervention and Riz went home with new shoes. Check out his new shoes when you see them, and for the fun of it, let me know what is the first word that comes to your mind when you see him in them..

Movie itself was pretty good and I can say it is the best comedy I have watched this year, I would say Forbidden Kingdowm was the best comedy but unfortunately that was supposed to be an action movie. (For explanation see earlier post on the movie review.) Get Smart had a pretty decent plot, Steve Carrell steals the show with his punchlines and dead-pan face. Anne Hathaway is looking mighty fine in the show too and there is also some apperance from Dwayne Johnson, otherwise known at the Rock. He is Agent 23 in the show, and if you have watched the show and know who Agent 23 is in MiB, then well you can draw the similarities between them after the show. There were some laugh-out loud moments and it's a great movie to watch with your family or gf.

Movie Rating: 3.5/5 (I would not say you MUST watch it in the cinema, but if the DVD or VCD is out, then definitely go pick it up and watch it.)

After the movie, we went to the 24-hous Swensen's to chill and reflect about MiB and life in general. We stayed till 2plus in the morning and it was a pretty enjoyable time of reminiscing about the good old days..
  2. Friday Soccer is it on? So far those who can come should be Me, Riz, Prak (if he recovers from his toe injury), PP, KK, Puvan, Maran, SK, Harish, Bert, Anan.. Should we still go ahead with it? I thought Sat was supposed to bring us to Cafe Iguana after soccer? What happened to that? Can you guys pleasee discuss on the forum if you want to play on Friday. We shall decide by Thursday night.
  3. Thursday night Euro 2008 Semi Final between Spain and Russia. Any takers to come watch it at my place? Don't forget we might play soccer on Friday after that so you need to consider the fact that you won't be sleeping much the night before. Let me know if you guys want to come over..

MiB FC Player Profile: Pirakash

7. Pirakash

Position on the Pitch: Centre Back, Prefers the right side and anywhere in Attack.
Nicknames: The Silent “Eye”, The One-Dollar, King X, Becks, DeadBall 7.
Player he Tries to Emulate: Do I even I have to say this? David Beckham.
Memorable Quotes: “Dei so StarHub incoming free ah?”
“Sass!” (Calling SK)
Will most likely say: “Can you guys leave Dinesh/Sat alone?”
“Ride Together. Die Together. MiB.”
Will never be caught saying: “I can’t wait for my cousin sister’s wedding!”
“Nah, I don’t feel like playing Winning Eleven on PS3.”
Profile:
What can you say about Prak that has not been said before? Coolness personified in the MiB team with loads of attitude to spare, Prak is one of the most vocal members of our legendary football team and when the big man speaks, you better listen.

Any No.7 in any team has to be outstanding in his own right. Think Beckham, Ronaldo, Cantona and the list goes on. Though our No.7 is our first choice central defender when fit, I think we would be belittling his contribution to MiB FC if we said that our own “Becks” is not as influential as other more attacking-minded No.7s. As MiB’s unofficial dead-ball specialist, (we are still unsure it was because he had a good right foot or because he looks like someone really famous when striking the ball), Prak has chipped in with his fair share of goals from free-kicks and penalties. He has missed his fair share but then who hasn’t? To wear this prestigious number in any team brings a lot of pressure with it, and perhaps that is why when he does not live up to his high standards, it is so much easier to remember his shortcomings than someone else’s.
Prak lives and breathes MiB. As a friend he is always there to listen, talk to, hang out with and even take a punch for you. Eventhough he stays in Woodlands, which is not exactly the nearest place to the city centre where the Bishan-Toa Payoh Boys might be closer to, he is always one to regularly turn up for movies, dinners, pool and chit chat, no matter how small the group. I for one would like to give out a special mention to Prak for accompanying Kevin and I to “Looney Tunes Back in Action” at Plaza Sing, eventhough it was late, and the movie was, well, looney to say the least.

I think it is fair to say the Pirakash feels very strongly for his band of brothers in MiB and will rally round a member no matter how difficult the situation. Prak is the kind of guy that when you’re in a tough corner and need someone to back you up, then you know he is there to lend more than his fair share of the weight. A committed and dedicated team-mate on the pitch, you know you are going to get 100% from “Praks” whether you are playing a match or tournament. Perhaps his greatest moment came when he scored 2 goals in the Final of the 2006 Rotaract Cup Tournament which led us to our first title after a barren spell of coming in close Seconds in many a battle.

One of the founding members of MiB back in SJI, Prak is and will continue to be a huge presence in the team, on and off the pitch. He will always be associated with his black cap and “bounce-walk”, and also his silky dance moves on the dance-floor.
I think the best word to describe Prak would be to say he is the “rock” of MiB, a true, firm, solid member of the team that is going to be there for you, come rain, or shine.

MiB Lookalikes!!! Part 4

Chandra Kumar star player of MiB now studying in Melbourne, or Yassin Restaurant star prata seller now based in Boon Keng??????????

What a WILD Night..

PP, Prak, Puvan, Riz and KK gathered at Harvey's place to watch the deciding games of the Group of Death at Euro 2008. It was a fun night for all involved and the fun finally ended at about 630am when Prak reluctantly put down the PS3 remote to head home.

We gathered at about 2230, played PS3 for a while before heading off to Yassin Prata Restaurant to tapao some dinner-supper. I have to say the Teh Tarik was really "manis", and I think it had something to do with the guy serving us looking EXACTLY like Mr Chandra Kumar. I am not exaggerating. The photos will be up shortly and you guys can decide after that. By the way, PP showed up in his new crew cut looking more and more like Derek Fisher. Check it out this Friday at NUS. We also got 1 extra kosong prata because the guy serving us felt he had some unexplainable connection to MiB. Was it sheer coincidence that Chan landed in Singapore just hours earlier to that mysterious prata encounter??

We then headed back to Harvey's place to watch Reno 911 and have our food. Let's just say it was a pretty entertaining enough movie, but make sure you watch it alone. No gf, no parents.. Riz was enjoying the show and even asked for a plastic bag, but common sense prevailed. The matches started after that to a frenzy of betting from Prak. The games were exciting enough and Holland and Italy have made it through from the Group of Death. France were really unlucky to lose 2-0 we felt. First Ribery went off after 10 minutes, then Abidal conceded a penalty and got himself sent off after 25, and then Italy scored a second through a deflected free kick. To make matters even more exciting, love-struck French boss Raymond Domenech then joined in the mayhem by proposing to his girlfriend live on TV. He said: “It was just a thought when everything was so sad. “I thought life has some beautiful moments and you should tell people you love them. I wanted to show some emotion.” I told you it was a WILD night.

Special mention to Prak and Kevin who started playing PS3 at half time of the matches and did not stop till the games were over. Euro Fever has really got to them you can see. After the matches, in order to wait for the first bus, we played a Winning Eleven tournament to which Rizvi went to strike some yoga-like poses on my bed. There was even a Superman posture but we still are investigating the moaning and groaning noises. At 630am, the fun was over, with Riz tapaoing 5 kosong prata home.

This morning the Celtics raped LA in the NBA Finals so congrats to them. To see the "african-american" guys celebrating is worth a watch. "WOOOOOOOO, YEAHHHHHHHHH BAYBEEEEEE, MAMAaaaaa"... Good stuff.

So Chan is back. Vana is off on another overseas assignment but hopes to be back for soccer this Friday at 4pm at NUS. For the rest of you, be there.

MiB Lookalikes!!! Part 3

Navin a.k.a PP or Derek Fisher from the LA Lakers??????

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Updates..

  1. A few of us went to watch Kung Fu Panda yesterday. Pretty decent movie. Predictable enough storyline and there weren't too many "shrek"-like laughs for me. It really is a school holiday movie for the younger generation but there are enough things in it to make it watchable. The CGI for one is eye-popping and it really is quite frightening to think what these cartoons will look like in 5 years time. Think about it, it takes 1,000,000 drawings to make a 3 minute CGI film. So go watch Kung Fu Panda to give your eyes something to savour and appreciate the hard work of the people behind it.

Rating: 3.5/5 (worth a watch in the cinema for a $6 ticket, especially when Rizvi was treating. =)))) )
  2. We then went to Toa Payoh area to link up with Sat and SK and we had a good 3 hour chit chat about life and MiB. It was pretty good fun and who knows when we will get opportunities like this in the future to catch up. I have to say the Lime Juice With Sour Plum at the 177TP food court was probably the best I have had in Singapore. Sat ordered 3 glasses and me 2. It really was worth the $1.20. Go try if you can..
  3. Soccer this Friday. Is it on? Can Sat confirm?
  4. Watching Euro at Harvey's place has been postponed to next week or the week after because I understand that some of us have work commitments on Saturday. So that has been postponed.
  5. Next weekend (20-22 of June), my mum has got an M1 chalet at Downtown east. She actually reserved it for a friend who then cancelled on her last minute so its all hers. My parents are not too keen on the whole chalet concept so have offered us the chance to stay there for a night or two. So lets plan and maybe take the Fri-Sat slot. A good chance to catch up, watch Euro, go swimming, and I heard Chan will be back too so hopefully he can join us.
  6. I think Sat will be inviting us to some dinner on the 22nd of June so keep that slot free guys. More details from Sat soon.
  7. Maran said he wanted to club this Saturday. Any takers?
  8. MiB Player Profile will be Pirakash this week. Can anybody please pass me some memorable quotes that he has said or something that you will always associate with Prak that I can include in the blog. Send to my email at harveymib1@hotmail.com if it is too sensitive.
  9. Photos from Sat's sister's wedding. Sat and Harish where are they???
  10. What happened to the MiB trip? Batam or Redang? Suddenly I am starting to lean towards Redang again because I heard Batam is getting expensive and they charge in Singapore dollars now because they know we like to come over...

MiB FC Player Profile: Anthony

6. Anthony

Position on the pitch: Right/Left Back, Right/Left Wing

Profile:

Now it might be a little unfair for me to write a Player Profile about Anthony, because I hardly knew the guy as well as the rest of MiB. The majority of the guys will remember him best for the years they spent together at SJI and how he became a good friend and then assimilated to be one of the founding members of MiB.

Anthony has always been a great buddy to hang out with, and has no "airs" about spending time with a group of football-crazy indian guys, which is perhaps the greatest attribute we can pay him. He is always in the midst of sharing a joke or playing a prank and despite only meeting him more than a handful number of times, I will always remember him as someone really friendly and easy to talk to.

Now that he has migrated to Canada (he still shows up once in a while), we have kinda lost in touch with him but I felt that it was important to include him in the MiB player profiles because he embodies all the good things about MiB FC. A good solid footballer, who always gives 100% in games, but a great friend off the pitch too. And it says a lot about MiB that we have members of all ethnic backgrounds and communities. Not many teams in Singapore or even the world can say that.

I hope that wherever he is, Anthony will one day stumble upon this website and get in touch with us again. We look forward to meeting and hanging out with him.
PS. For good measure, maybe you guys can leave some comments here about Anthony, all the great memories that you all had from SJI that I was not able to fit into this profile. I think we owe him that much. And can somebody get in touch with him?
Next Week: DB7 Pirakash

EURO is here!!

Ok guys I'm back from reservist!

The guys met up to play soccer at NUS on Sunday after a week's lay-off. Harvey, Riz, SK, Sat, Prak, PP, Maran, Vana, Zal showed up. We adjourned for dinner at Beach Rd after that and then a few of us went over to Harvey's house for PS 3, chit chat and watched the Euro games..

So what's been happening with MiB?

  1. Batam has emerged as a strong contender for MiB's getaway location. I think either way it will be ok cos as long as we are together it'll be fun. So let's just fix the dates and confirm plans. Waiting is just going to kill our plans. So Harish give us you best deal for Redang (most convenient no need to go Malaysia and book all), and Philbert you do the same for Batam. We will then have a poll up and we can vote after that.
  2. Anyone wanna meet up this week for Kung Fu Panda or M.Night Shyamalan's The Happening? Maybe Wednesday??
  3. This Friday NUS Soccer at 4pm. After that maybe we can go have dinner and you guys can come over to my place to watch the Euro games. The games are Italy vs Romania and Holland vs France. Group of Death. And I'm telling you guys early so that we come prepared. Sleep the whole day, come for NUS soccer and then for the games so we can last throughout. Its called Euro Fever. Do come if you can.
  4. Player Profiles, Anthony and Prak to come soon. Sorry to keep procastinating!
  5. I have some opponents for field games if you guys want. They might not be too good but it will be good cos we need to build up some steam before we play them.
  6. Any upcoming tournaments? Sat pass me some details..
  7. Sat sister's wedding dinner photos are still M.I.A.. Harish and Sat please pass them to me when you can..
